A.R.T. brings in the new millennium with a new laser gauge. By combining the economical principles of toe plates, and the laser technology of our high end laser toe gauge, we can now offer a laser toe angle gauge for the racer on a budget. The "Laser Toe Plates" is a CAD designed portable laser gauge using aluminum toe plates that are 24" long attached to a laser and mirror base plates. The toe plates are attached to the rigid base plates by two spherical rod ends. This allows the toe plates to tilt and conform to cambered wheels up to 15 degrees. In addition to camber compensation, ART's innovative design eliminates toe angle error induced by side wall bulge found in all standard toe plates.
After a simple calibration, the procedure of taking a toe angle reading can be performed by one person in a matter of minutes By simply placing the toe plates against the wheels as you would with standard toe plates, the heavy rigid base plates are automatically aligned parallel to the wheel surface. With this complete, you simply tilt the laser and mirror so the laser hits a target on the face of the laser head. You then read your toe angle on the dial indicator at a resolution of 1/60 of a degree which is greater than ten times the resolution of conventional toe plates
The laser head incorporates the latest in solid state laser technology, with excellent laser beam uniformity, and is battery powered. Besides front end toe angle readings, the laser toe plates are very useful in monitoring cambered solid rear axles, as cambered hubs are known to alter the toe angle of the axle if not manufactured correctly. With the increasing use of solid rear axles with built in toe to improve handing characteristics, the "Laser Toe Plates" are a necessary diagnostic tool in order to maintain repeatable setups. This fully portable laser system, which is made of mostly aluminum, comes with all hardware, instructions, and angle to fraction conversion charts. Some assembly is required.
